In early spring we watched a pair of crows build a nest in the Russian Olive tree bordering our back yard. (Thankfully, it was untouched by the part that fell on our back deck)
We watched as both parents incubated the eggs, and then fed the babies when they hatched. They were typical 'parents' and were very protective of their young, making a real fuss if any foreigner came near.
This morning we watched- and listened- as the parents urged their young out of the nest for their first flight.
It's amazing to think that these creatures; as all of God's creatures, were instilled with natural instincts to parent and protect and then 'let go'. None of which is an easy thing to do-- especially the 'letting go" part !
The family were really noisy neighbors, but we will miss watching them.
