It's been a long time since I blogged, so thought I would take a little time this morning to let you all know that we're still alive and kicking.
Actually both Arlyn and I are feeling more healthy than we have for some time. We started counting calories and eating more healthy (most of the time) the first of the year. I joined CURVES for Women also and go 3 times a week to workout. I'm enjoying it and getting some results. Arlyn has lost about 35 pounds and I have lost a little over 20 and a couple dress sizes. Sure doesn't come off as quickly as when we were younger. But they say slower is better.
At any rate, we are trying to get in better shape, and want to look good for our upcoming Cruise to Alaska the last part of August. Most of you know about it already, but if not and you want more information, you will just have to write or phone or email us!!! (BRIBE)
A month ago I applied at A2Z Personnel (a temp employment agency) and have been working on an oncall basis doing Respite for some of their clients. I did a 24 hour Respite a couple weeks ago, and am currently sitting with a lady from 1-3 three days a week. She is a Hospice patient, so that is right up my alley. It doesn't pay a lot, but at least it gives us a little extra income, and gets me out of the house.
I also started doing volunteer work for Homelink/Hospice of St. Peter's Community Hospital. I currently have a client on Friday's from 10:30 till noon. She is a sweet 96 year old lady, and we enjoy one another's company.
Arlyn continues to work for the Montana Department of Administrations, as a Labor Relations Specialist. He had his duties reassigned not long ago and does negotiations mostly for the Department of Corrections now. He still travels now and then, but seldom overnight.
We made our 2008 maiden camping trip with friends from Miles City and here in Helena over Memorial Day weekend. This is an annual event, and we enjoy getting together with them. This year we went to Georgetown Lake, between Anaconda and Phillipsburg. It rained the entire time, so we didn't do any outdoor gatherings, but we did do our usually community barbecue, and just ate together in one of the campers. Of course we made our usual trip to The Sweet Palace in Phillipsburg on Sunday and stocked up on black licorice for Arlyn and some hard candy and fudge for me. (Which we are consuming on special occasions)
Our next planned camping trip will be over Father's Day weekend with Tara and Tracie and their families. We are planning to go up to Seeley, which is just a couple hours from Helena. Darla and family won't be able to join us for the camping weekend, but she and the children are hoping to come out to Montana for a visit some time this summer.
As some of you already know, a tragedy occurred within our family just after Christmas last year. It's pretty private, so I won't go into detail here. I just want to solicit your prayers, and thank those who have been praying about the situation. We're looking forward to some degree of closure in the next couple of weeks.
I guess that is about all the news I can offer for this post. We hope you are all happy and healthy and enjoying life.
Blessings to you all.
