Summer visitors

Pearle's cousin Orlo Jr. (Mac) Magoon, wife, Laurie, and daughter, Emily, from Edgewood, Washington, visited us with their new motorhome the first part of August. We went out to dinner together with Pearle's sister, Bev, and spent the evening visiting. (Bev hadn't seen Orlo for amost 50 years)

Darla and the two children ( Nat, almost 5 & Tommy 18 mo's ), from Grand Rapids, Michigan, visited us in late August.

Their trip was planned to begin with a drive (in a rental car) to Midway Airport in Chicago for a flight out on Southwest Airlines at 6:15 P.M. - arriving in Boise, Idaho at 10:20 P.M. MST.

From there Tracie was to pick them up and we were to meet at Stoddard Creek, in Idaho for a weekend camping trip.

The best layed plans are always subject to CHANGE !!!!

When Darla and the children arrived at the airport they found that their flight was 'delayed' because of the servere storms going through the Chicago area. Delay after delay culminated in a cancelation of their flight. After waiting all night, then standing in line for 4 hours the airline anounced that they would not be able to find a flight for them until the next day, and that they would not work with any other carrier to try to find them a flight. SOOO- she demanded a refund on their tickets, and proceeded to another Airline, to try to find a flight.

We were looking on ORBITZ here and found a flight out that evening at 7:00 P.M. on Frontier Airlines into Salt Lake City, so we sent Darla to them, to have them say that there were absolutely no seats available. WELL, meanwhile we did book her a flight, and the price even went down while we were making the transaction!!

When she presented the tickets to the agent, they asked " Where on EARTH did you get those tickets???" (I think GOD had them sent from HEAVEN !)

Having that settled-------

We proceeded to hook up the trailer and drove to our campsite in Stoddard Campground near the Montana- Idaho boarder just over Manida Pass. After dinner, Arlyn drove 5 hours to Salt Lake City to fetch Darla and the children. They got back to the campground at 4:30 A.M.

Natalie and Ryan had fun building a fire ready to lite later in the evening so we could roast marshmellows and make SMORES, and Tommy loved playing in the dirt.
